With nearly 4 million weekly viewers on BBC1, add to that thousands more on iPlayer and catch up TV, Jamie Squibb and his FMX buddies mainstream engagement on last nights show was insane, if I put it into perspective, when my non dirt bike friends send messages to me saying, “aren’t you involved with doing crazy sh*t like that” then you know a lot of households are taking notice on what was happening on the show.
NITRO CIRCUS UK TOUR
But in the case of Jamie Squibb, it’s hard not to feel you’re looking at someone living out their teenage fantasies. “The first two times Nitro Circus came to the UK, me and my girlfriend bought tickets and just went to watch,” he tells me with a huge grin. “I was sat there with a beer and I said to my girlfriend, ‘I need to ride in this.’ It shows that when you set your goals and targets, you can get there.”
We’re standing in a quiet corner of the riders’ room at London’s 02 Arena, where Jamie and some of the world’s best freestyle motocross riders (Travis Pastrana is sat next to me nursing a cold beer, no big deal) have just finished their second sold out Nitro Circus show. “It was amazing,” says Squibb, “everyone knows Nitro Circus, and to be a part of it and to be out there riding with all of those guys – it’s just phenomenal. This is the best experience I’ve had in my entire riding life. This week has totally blown my mind, both in practice and on the shows. The level of ability of these riders is just amazing.”
Squibbfreestyle Team Update
So the past few weeks have been mega busy with the show season now in full swing. Team Rider Stu Macey unfortunately over jumped the ramp and broke both ankles at the BHP Fuel Fest @ West Point Arena, Exeter. We are pleased to let you know that Stu has had the ok and is out of hospital and now recovering at home.
From the BHP Fest it was on to the Weston-Super-Mare Pro Nationals festival where Jamie pulled out all the stops throwing down super flips, backflips and no hander landers for the crowds viewing pleasure.
We were also joined by the media crew from Virgin life insurance, they spent a few days at the training compound and then shot for an entire day for their new internet advert that will be released in the near future starring Jamie and his side kick Kenny…. watch this space.
Jamie met with F2 Football Freestylers to film the last episode in a series of shows in a park in London – you can watch the show here.
Most recently Jamie has just returned from Goodwood Festival of Speed where he had the pleasure of riding alongside FMX Legends such as Edgar Torrontaras, Steve Sommerfield, Petr Pilat, Emma McFerran, Hannes Ackermann and not forgetting UK talent Dave Wiggins! The show was amazing from beginning to end with the best of BMX, FMX and Trials Riders from around the globe…

2013 FMX Update
So 2013 has been an interesting and busy year for Jamie Squibb… With a number of shows across the UK and appearances at F1, MotoGP and Goodwood amongst others Jamie found a few spare days to ride with friends Andre Villa and Chris Birch. DC Shoes headed to Devon to film a new edit (link to follow) and Jamie has now mastered the backflip with a little guidance from Andre.
Here is the image of Jamie flipping outside of the Birmingham Library for the ArenacrossUK tour due to kick off in January 2014 with the first stop at the Odyssey, Belfast.
